The Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment (AFCEE) contracted ECC/Solaya to provide and install a 1.5 MW Fuhrlander wind turbine with an 80 meter tower and a 77 m rotor diameter. AFCEE will be using the wind turbine at the Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR) to offset the cost of electricity and reduce air emissions associated with its eight groundwater pump and treat systems. In 2008, the combined treatment systems used over two million dollars in electricity costs and indirectly produced tons of greenhouse gases and other air emissions associated with fossil fuel based power.
