Adams Carriage House

This project involved the complete renovation of the Adams Carriage house, including the construction of modern research and archive storage areas, new offices, gift store and visitor center. In addition to the general construction work, Lumus self-performed the installation of a new electrical service, new heating and air conditioning system and new fire protection system. Blue Ridge carpet and sheet linoleum was installed. The mechanical portion was completed as a design build project which was added to the contract after award of the main portion of the work. Through this process, Lumus saved the customer 30% of the total mechanical costs over the original design while improving the overall design. Combining design and construction greatly reduced the project time. Lumus was awarded the Small Business “Prime Contractor of the Year” after being nominated by the NPS for our performance on this project.
